I used to sell from my own website but found it a bit of a pain to keep up with everything, and taking of orders so apart from my market selling I thought it might be a good idea to list some sites that people can use, and their good and bad points. I live in a tiny town so have to look for online plant and seed sales as I don't have a large local customer base.
I will start off with four:
1, Ebay, of course. I don't sell on Ebay any more because of their new policies that are dreadful to sellers. The rules and regulations are overbearing, and of course the fees are getting ridiculous. The good thing about Ebay is its huge customer base though.
2, Gumtree - This is a good site for selling from home if you live in a city where you would get a lot of local lookers. They are owned by Ebay and are starting to make some uncomfortable and greedy policies now - such as not being able to edit your listing unless you pay a fee. I have not sold on Gumtree as it I think it is best for local and pick-up items.
3, Quicksales - I don't sell on there any more for two reasons, they don't have a lot of lookers, and they have been having trouble with details not showing on listings for many people and browsers which they have not fixed for the past year even though people have complained about it.
4, Swapmeet.net.au - this is only a new site but I have already had sales even though I have only started listing my stuff a couple of days ago. There is not a lot on there yet but if people get on board it might be a good alternative to Ebay.
I have also made some sales of Facebook and would love to hear what sites other people are using.
