This website catalogs and maps edible plants and trees growing in public and private spaces across the world. This can be a great way to find some unique, heritage and/or local hardy plants in your neighborhood! I used it to find a spectacular old peach tree (in a climate not especially suited for growing peaches) with really beautiful fruit. I've already spoken to the owner and they have given me permission to take some soft-wood cuttings this coming spring. There is also a lot of opportunity here for seed collectors/breeders looking to boost their genetic diversity.
