Many of us are selling plants propagated from plants bought in a nursery. The problem is that they are often mislabeled. As long as you are selling common ornamental plants that is not an issue. Most people even aren't interested in the name. With rare collectors plants that's more of a problem. And if you sell something edible or medicinal it might be even worse. There is one specimen of oenanthe (don't know if I spelled this right) which is edible and another which is poisonous. I am pretty sure that the comfrey I bought as "officinalis" is not the officinalis form but some Russian hybrid, which is useful for the garden but not used as medicine (that might be true for most the comfreys sold in Australia). I have a solidago canadensis. How do I know that it is really the canadensis form? I know they are used in a very similar way, but if someone actually wants the canadensis form and not the other I sell the wrong thing.

Living where I do (near to Athens OH) I go talk to Companion Plants. Is there another herbalist shop anywhere near you?
